Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region is located in northwest China and lower and middle reaches of Yellow River, at 1200 meters above sea level.     Ningxia has convenient transportation. Railway lines extend 839 km, with the Baotou-Lanzhou and Baoji-Zhongwei railways running through the region. At present, 9,048 km of highway is open to traffic. The highway network, including 12 national and provincial trunk lines, plus country roads links the capital city of Yinchuan with all other cities, villages, and mining and pastoral areas. The civil aviation sector has opened air routes from Yinchuan to Beijing, Xian, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Shanghai, Foshan and Chengdu. Yinchuan's Hedong Airport is rated as 4 D.
